Your bluebot is capable of measuring any Copper, PVC, Galvanized or PEX pipe from ¾” to 2” with the same meter. It is not recommended to install it on the pit where your main water meter is installed for billing. You will need at least 4.5” of straight pipe with no fittings or couplers. Your bluebot needs to press tightly on the pipe for proper sound transmission.
We encourage users to install bluebot near the main shut off valve where the water enters the home. If you have a water purification system, installing just before or after this system is ideal. Also, many users trace their main line into the home and install the meter just before the water main tee’s off into the hot water heater.
Many customers buy two bluebots and clamp one on their house main, typically copper, and the other on their irrigation main, typically PVC.
We have also seen many other creative installations like fish tanks, pools, wells, second homes, fire sprinkler systems, apartment complexes, hotels, schools, restaurants, car dealerships just to name a few.
